Michael Crowe FCA - Partner/Director

Michael is Manx-born and trained as a Chartered Accountant in the UK. After qualifying in 1973, he worked in London for one of the large firms of accountants before returning to the Island and joining a local practice, where he was a Partner from 1980. He joined forces with David Morgan (see below) to form Crowe Morgan in October 2000.

He brings to the business over 30 years experience and understanding as an accountant practising within the Island's Finance Sector, dealing with local and international clients and being responsible for a broad range of client activities and general business advice.

David Morgan FCA FCCA - Partner/Director

David was born in Yorkshire but moved to the Isle of Man in 1969, whereupon he became articled to Callow Matthewman & Co. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1976 and moved to Fryers Bell & Co. the following year, becoming a Partner in 1980. In October 2000 he formed Crowe Morgan with Michael Crowe (see above).

A long-established figure within the Island’s financial community, David also held first a non-executive Directorship (12 years) then the Chairman’s post at Britannia International Limited before retiring by rotation.

David is married with three children. His outdoor interests include clay target shooting (he has been part of the Isle of Man English Skeet Team for 10 years) and competing in his Triumph TR4 in Classic Rallies in the UK and Europe.

Barry McCarney FCCA - Partner/Director

Barry was born in Northern Ireland and moved to the Isle of Man in the 1980s. He has worked in all areas of practice since joining BDO Binder in 1989. He moved to Clarke & Rayton in 1994 and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1997. He became a Partner of Crowe Morgan in May 2001.

His fields of experience include audit, taxation and financial consultancy.

Barry is married with three daughters and enjoys all the local motorsport events, particularly the TT. He also loves to travel far and wide with his family in their motorhome.

Amy Slee BA (Hons) ACA - Partner

Amy was born and educated on the Isle of Man. After taking a BA (Hons) in French and German at Liverpool University and working abroad, she returned to the Isle of Man in 1996 to train as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte. She joined Crowe Morgan in 2000 in a managerial capacity, becoming a Partner in 2008. Amy ensures that the clients in her portfolio receive an "individually tailored service"

Amy is a committee member of the Manx Executive Challenge. She enjoys travelling and sings in a local choir.

John McManus Manager - Registration

Born and raised in St Helens, Lancashire, John moved to the Island in 1973 with five years experience at a Chartered Accountancy firm behind him. He worked for Fryers Bell & Co. for 16 years before moving to a subsidiary company responsible for Statutory Compliance on behalf of Fryers Bell & Co. and Clarke & Rayton. When Crowe Morgan was established, he stayed with them, continuing as registration manager.

John is married with two children and his interests include DIY and gardening.

Richard Brown Manager - I.T.

Richard's IT expertise stems from the start of his career in 1979, during which time he set up a computer bureau providing Accounting services for the Manx market. He joined Clarke & Rayton in 1986, personally designing their IT infrastructure. When they merged with Fryers Bell & Co. to form Crowe Morgan, he implemented their in-house systems. He continues to build on his extensive knowledge, for instance developing a commercial payroll system currently used by several Accountancy firms and individual companies.

Richard is a keen photographer, he loves fine wine, travel and his garden.

Denise Slater BA (Hons) - Assistant Manager

Denise grew up in the Midlands, and completed her education at Manchester University obtaining an honours degree in Accounting and Law. Denise started working for Crowe Morgan in 2004 as a trainee accountant, and won the Crossleys award for the best Isle of Man student in her final examinations before qualifying as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2007. Denise looks after a wide selection of clients and she is also Deputy Money Laundering Officer for the firm. Denise is a committed member of Castletown Hockey Club, and Captain of the Ladies B Team. She also enjoys travelling.

Ciaran Doherty ACCA - Assistant Manager

Ciaran was born in Dublin and moved to the Isle of Man in the 1990's, completing his education on the Island. He joined Fryers Bell & Co in 2000, shortly before Crowe Morgan was established, and after qualifying as a Certified Accounting Technician in 2004, continued his training and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2007. Ciaran has gained extensive experience in all services provided by Crowe Morgan with a particular focus on audit and company taxation.

An enthusiastic sports fan Ciaran plays for and serves on the committee of Douglas and District Football Club and enjoys reading and travel.
